The best time to travel to Northern Serbia

The north of Serbia generally has a temperate continental climate. In plain language, this means super hot summers and freezing cold winters. So quite distinct seasons and extreme temperature fluctuations in the course of the year. The best travel time for northern Serbia is therefore late summer, i.e. the months of August to October. At this time, the temperatures are almost perfect and there is less precipitation than, for example, in spring. However, all winter sports fans can also arrive in the winter months and hit the slopes.

The best time to travel to southern Serbia

In the south of Serbia it all looks a little different. The climate there is much more moderate, almost Mediterranean. This Mediterranean climate is characterized by similarly hot but drier summers and mild, rainy winters. The seasons are generally less pronounced than in the north, but snow can still occur in the region. The best travel time for southern Serbia is from May to October. The temperatures are pleasantly warm and are perfect for a city break or a hiking holiday.

Spring in Serbia is very similar to German spring. In the months from March to May it is quite changeable, so that in addition to rain showers there can also be snow from time to time, even in April and May. In general, however, it is a season with fairly mild temperatures.

Summer in Serbia runs from June to August. At this time of the year, Serbia surprises with fairly hot temperatures above 30°C and lots of sunshine. At night, however, the temperatures cool down to a pleasant 15°C. These temperatures are ideal for a city break.

Autumn in Serbia

Autumn in Serbia is generally not as rainy as spring, which is why this season is mostly popular with hikers. During this period, the thermometer still shows pleasant temperatures of around 15°C before the cold winter slowly sets in.

Winter in Serbia / Best time to visit Serbia

In November, winter slowly sets in in Serbia, bringing cold and snow into the country. Temperatures hover around freezing at this time of year and cold winds from the Arctic and Russia sweep across the country. However, sometimes mild winds can sweep across the country from the Mediterranean Sea, causing unseasonably warm temperatures. Snow is not uncommon at this time and allows winter sports in higher regions.
