Best travel time for the Alonissos

Alonissos is summed up in one word: idyllic. Here you will find pine forests right down to the beach and olive groves line the hiking trails.

Its pristine waters are a haven for the endangered monk seals. You can also visit the island’s Marine National Park to snorkel and see the graceful animals and rare seabirds and dolphins live. Another must is a boat trip from Patitiri – the capital – to one of the many small islets around and to the Blue Cave, a grotto with deep blue water. Holidays on Alonissos may not be a conventional Greek holiday, but it is a very unique one.

Weather on Alonissos in Summer: Summer temperatures are generally in the mid to high 20’s. It will be pleasantly cool in the pine forests and there will be gentle breezes from the north between late July and early August.

Getting to Alonissos: You can take the ferry from Athens or even better: Take a look at a second Sporades island, namely Skiathos, and take the ferry to Alonissos.
