Filicudi: The island to know off the coast of Italy

With its anthology of coves with turquoise waters, its fishing village and its volcanic landscapes, Filicudi has long been the secret spot of Italians during the holidays.

With only three hundred inhabitants, Filicudi is undoubtedly one of the least touristic islands in Italy. Apart from a small shop on the port, where you can stock up on fruit, cheese and bread, everything is delivered daily from Sicily.

Made of volcanic rocks and heavenly coves, the place offers the possibility of total disconnection. Travelers therefore put their suitcases there in the few hotels in the area or in pretty villas overlooking the sea. The activities on site? Swimming, boating or sunbathing at the water’s edge. La Sirena Beach Club

Both a seaside hotel, a restaurant and a private beach, La Sirena is one of the must-sees in Filicudi. Unchanged since its opening, the colorfully decorated place splits the years with panache and authenticity. Simple but effective, visitors come here to enjoy iodized cuisine, served with Sicilian wine, but also to laze facing the sea or even put their suitcases in a refined room, equipped with a small balcony on the bay.

The Canna

Perched on a rocky edge, La Canna is one of the best restaurants on the island. Also comprising a few rooms, this restaurant seduces above all for its superb panoramic view. On the menu ? A caprese with peaches and mozzarella, fresh pasta with tuna and tomato, grilled fish… Everything you take out to eat in summer.

Salina

To discover another island for a day, head to Salina. Located just opposite Filicudi, this is where the film Le Facteur was shot. Spread over less than 27km, it has two volcanoes, the incredible Pollara cliff and magnificent beaches. So many reasons to pay a visit.
