Rhodes: The 10 most beautiful beaches

Rhodes attracts holidaymakers from near and far with its unique cultural sites – but the island’s beaches also know how to inspire. We present you the 10 most beautiful among them!

Those who come to Rhodes should not miss sights such as the old town of Rhodes town with its impressive Grand Master’s Palace, the fascinating Castle of Monolithos or the Feraklos Fortress. Before, between and after sightseeing the great art and cultural sites of the island, of course, you shouldn’t miss out on beach fun – and you won’t be disappointed on Rhodes either. We have found the 10 most beautiful beaches on the island for you!

1. Prasonisi Beach

We start in the very south of Rhodes on the peninsula of Prasonisi and the beach of the same name – or actually the beaches of the same name, because strictly speaking Prasonisi beach is twin beaches. Prasonisi is connected to the main island of Rhodes by a sandbank that divides the sea into two sides: while the eastern part is largely sheltered from the wind and therefore offers calm waters that are also perfect for bathing holidays with the little ones, the western side is one A real paradise for surfers: Here there are moderate to strong waves almost every day and therefore ideal conditions for kite and windsurfing. By the way, don’t worry if you’ve never stood on a board before: there are also surf schools in Prasonisi, as well as numerous cafés, bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the beach.

2. Kallithea beach and springs / The best Rhodes beaches

Sunbathe on the beach or rather pamper yourself in hot springs and relaxing spa treatments? Why not both? In the town of Kalithea on the north-east coast of Rhodes you don’t have to make a big decision, you can have everything you want in just one holiday, depending on your mood: you can enjoy the pleasant breeze right by the sea while you doze under the straw umbrellas on the beach or in the clear water go snorkeling while you convince yourself of the ancient healing effects of the thermal water in the springs or leave the stress at home behind you with massages and other wellness treatments. At the end of the day you can try original Greek delicacies in the delicious restaurant right on the beach or end the evening with a cocktail overlooking the sea.

3. Faliraki Beach

From pure relaxation in Kallithea to pure adventure on neighboring Faliraki Beach. Faliraki is known as a center for beach parties and high spirits, but also as a focal point for those who like it a little more action-packed.

Best travel time for the Rhodes

So you can not only pursue various water sports there, but also let off steam with fun activities on land and even bungee jumping. In the evening, the beach bars, restaurants and nightclubs fill up and you can party until the wee hours. Despite all the excitement, Faliraki is also suitable as a family holiday resort – mainly thanks to the gently sloping water and the good infrastructure. The only point you should pay attention to: the beach is partly quite pebbly, so better bring bathing shoes!

4. Tsambika Beach

An absolute dream beach among the beaches of Rhodes is the next stretch of coast in our list: the beach of Tsambika. The sand here is golden yellow and fine-grained, making it perfect for sunbathing on the soft shore while the water just gently deepens. The sea warms up to pleasant temperatures in the preseason, which is still spared by the large tourist crowds, and is also perfect for a holiday with the whole family. In terms of infrastructure, Tsambika also trumps: water sports providers, showers and toilets, parasols that can be rented for a fee, and plenty of restaurants and cafes right on the coast, as well as an easy-to-reach car park for the journey. It doesn’t get any better than that!

5. Lindos Beaches

The next beach on our list of the top bathing resorts on Rhodes is actually not just a beach, but a whole collection of beaches around the town of Lindos, which is at least as well worth seeing: from the fine sandy city beach in several sections to the more remote bay of St. Paul direct view of the Acropolis to the beach in Vlycha Bay, which trades the developed infrastructure for relative tranquility even in the high season. And then of course there would be the advantage of Lindos itself, because the city also has some impressive sights to offer and lures with sightseeing adventures between relaxed visits to the sea.

6. Anthony Quinn Bay / The best Rhodes beaches

Continue to a beach – or rather, a bay – that might sound familiar to some of you movie buffs: Anthony Quinn Bay. The place gets its name from the fact that the film The Guns of Navarone – obviously starring Anthony Quinn – was filmed there. The water here is gently sloping and very clear, making it perfect for snorkeling. Since this is a pebbly beach with some sharp stones, bathing shoes should definitely be brought along. A small tavern above the bay, from which you also have a beautiful view over the waves, takes care of your physical well-being.

7. Fourni Beach

From the east coast we now go to the west coast of Rhodes, namely to the beach of Fourni. Nestled between rocks and cliffs, this pretty piece of land boasts golden sand that only occasionally turns pebbly, turquoise waters and, thanks to its split into several bays, relative tranquility even during the busier summer months. On the cliff or steep coast you can take walks with a unique view before or after swimming, or you stay until the evening and watch the sunset over the sea from here – after all, the beach faces west. Also nearby is the very interesting Castle of Monolithos, which you can access directly from the road that also serves the beach.

8. Agathi Beach

And one more beach near a fortress makes our list of top Rhodes beaches for a combination of sea adventures and sightseeing opportunities: Agathi Beach, close to Feraklos Fortress, which you can also see from the coast can see. The calm, shallow water here is particularly suitable for swimming trips with small children, and the fine, soft sand invites you to take a relaxing nap in the sun. There are also opportunities for water sports here; for example, there is a jet ski rental. If you get hungry in between, you will find beach bars, and showers, umbrellas and loungers are also provided.

9. Traganou Beach

A beach with small caves that you can enter from the beach, or in which turquoise water shimmers – it doesn’t get much more romantic than that! Traganou beach is a real gem among Rhodes beaches and should definitely be at the top of the list of possible Greek holiday destinations for all holidaymakers looking not only for sunbathing and splashing around, but also for spectacular scenery. The sand here is mixed with pebbles; if you want to lie down really comfortably, it is best to take a yoga mat with you or use one of the sunshade/beach chair combos that are available for a fee. You can get snacks and drinks in the small tavern right on the coast.

10. Stegna Beach

Finally, we have a little insider tip for you: the beach of Stegna on the east coast of Rhodes. The beach of Stegna is by far not as well known to tourists as other stretches of coast on Rhodes and is therefore comparatively deserted even in midsummer. The beach is always worth a visit: Crystal-clear water, which borders a slowly sloping pebble-sand beach, its own water sports center for all those who also want to be active in sports, and a beautiful beach promenade with cafes and restaurants all contribute to the perfect beach holiday atmosphere.
