Saplı Ada in Didim

Another place we recommend you to see when you come to Didim Akbuk is Saplı Island.

Saplı Island, which has been declared a protected area in Akbük, is one of the most beautiful places in Akbük with its wonderful view.

You can reach Saplı Island, whose first settlement in the region is thought to date back to the 6th century BC, by walking over the sea. It is still possible to see the remains of ash on the island, which was formed by the spread of ashes as a result of a violent volcanic eruption that occurred in the Aegean Sea around 1500 BC.

You can stop by Saplı Island, which is seen as Akbük’s balcony extending to the sea, on your trip to Didim, and swim in its clean sea and sunbathe all day long.

Saplı Island, located in Akbük Bay in the Akbük district of Aydın, is among the must-see places in Aydın with its natural beauty and magnificent view.

As the name of the island, which is thought to have formed as a result of the collection of lava flows from the volcanic eruptions that occurred in the region centuries ago, a thin connection road is opened with the coastline when the sea level is low. When the sea level is high, this road rises to about knee level.

Along with the Akbuk view from the Akbuk hills, Sapli Island creates a wonderful view. Since the island is protected as a natural protected area, building and construction permits are not allowed on the island. There are only trees in an area of about 8 hectares. It is also possible to see the volcanic ash layer under the soil on the island.

You can walk from the coastline to the island and swim in safe areas. Also from some angles great pictures can be taken. Sometimes it is possible to cross the island with high-based vehicles.
