The 10 most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea

If you are looking for dream beaches, you do not necessarily have to fly to the Caribbean, because there are also some great beach paradises to be discovered in this country. / The 10 most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea

Germany and Poland offer numerous Baltic Sea resorts with wide sandy beaches, smaller stretches of beach and numerous bays.

To give you an overview of the most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea, I have summarized my top 10 in this beach guide. However, the order is arbitrary. With so many beautiful beaches, I couldn’t decide which of them is the best beach on the Baltic Sea.

1. Warnemunde

Let’s start with one of the largest beaches on the Baltic Sea, Warnemünde Beach. A total of 15 kilometers of real Caribbean feeling await you here, because the sand is very fine and white as powdered sugar. No wonder that it can get very crowded here in summer.

Thanks to the length and width, it can be endured here despite the crowds. Especially cool: When a ship sails in or out of the port of Rostock, you can not only see it, you can also feel it, because the waves of the ferries and cruise ships beat up to the shore of Warnemünde and promise pure fun every 2 hours.

Children and adults young at heart jump over the waves, water sports enthusiasts take the opportunity to surf.

2. Gromitz

The beach of Grömitz is considered the most beautiful beach in the Bay of Lübeck and therefore of course it makes it into my top 12 of the most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea. On 8 kilometers you can chill in one of the many beach chairs, take a walk along the water or admire the romantic cliffs.

In contrast to the Warnemünde beach, it is not quite as crowded here in Grömitz, so that you can still find a quiet spot even in the high season. The special thing about this beach on the Baltic Sea is certainly the cool diving gondola from Grömitz.

This is located at the end of the pier and if you pay the 9€ for the ticket, you can expect a unique view of the beautiful underwater world of the Baltic Sea.

3. Timmendorfer Strand and Scharbeutz Strand

Of course, Timmendorfer Strand and Scharbeutz Strand are among the most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea. Like the Grömitzer Strand, these two pearls of the beach are located in the Bay of Lübeck and practically merge into one another, which is why these two beaches are often associated with one another.

Whether active holiday, family holiday or a break with sweetheart on the beach – everyone gets their money’s worth here. There is plenty of space to build sandcastles, chill out in the sun or do any form of water sports. In addition, these Baltic Sea beaches also have barrier-free access.

4. Baltic Sea resort of Karlshagen

When I think of the Baltic Sea, I always think of the popular island of Usedom. And there in the Baltic Sea resort of Karlshagen we find one of the most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea.

The fine sandy beach is around 70 meters wide and even in the summer months you can always find a quiet spot in the sand.

If not, then you can switch to the adjacent dune landscape. The beach in the Baltic Sea resort of Karlshagen is particularly popular with families, because the water is very shallow and you only see big waves here on stormy days.

5. Schoenberg (Holstein)

If you are traveling in Holstein, then you should not miss the beach in Schönberg, because it made it onto our list of the most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea for a reason.

Here there is the finest powdered sugar sand over a length of around 8 kilometers and several sections that offer something for every taste. It doesn’t matter whether you’re looking for small romantic sections or big beach parties – there’s something for everyone here! Water sports enthusiasts, dog owners and even friends of the cultivated naturist will also find their suitable section.

6. Heringsdorf on Usedom

Many of you probably know the next beach: the beach of Heringsdorf on Usedom. It is about 70 meters wide, the sand is super soft and the water is shallow (also great for families). But the active vacationers among you will also get their money’s worth here, because you can play beach volleyball or try one of the cool water sports such as surfing or kiting.

A little further in the direction of Bansin, more precisely where the Gothensee flows into the Baltic Sea, there is also a separate dog beach, so that you can even go on holiday with your dog in Heringsdorf. A highlight here is definitely the Heringsdorf pier, because at 508 meters it is the longest pier in continental Europe!

7. Wohlenberger Wiek / Boltenhagen

This beach is currently still considered a real insider tip and that’s why we should definitely mention it when we talk about the most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea.

We are talking about the Baltic Sea beach in Boltenhagen on the Wohlenberger Wiek. Shallow water, sheltered dunes and a cute 50-person village await you here. Many of the holiday homes that can be rented here are right on the Baltic Sea!

8. Swinoujscie / Usedom (Poland)

Let’s go to our neighboring country Poland in search of the most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea. There is, for example, the great Świnoujście Beach on the Polish part of Usedom, which is particularly impressive because of its fine, wide sandy beach.

Families in particular will get their money’s worth here, because with a shallow water zone, beach chair rentals, showers and even water slides, this beach is well prepared for families with children.

There is even a wheelchair-accessible dune path here. If you are in the area, then you should definitely take a look at the white Świnoujście lighthouse. At a good 65 meters, this is the tallest lighthouse on the Baltic Sea. And that despite the fact that it is already a remarkable 160 years old!

9. Born on Fischland-Darss-Zingst

The Born beach section on Fischland-Darß is also one of my favorites on the Baltic Sea. Many thatched houses with colorful front doors characterize the townscape as well as the wide dune landscape and the fine, stone-free sandy beach.

The world still seems to be in order here, because even if the famous artist town of Ahrenshoop is only 12 minutes away by car, this place is not that crowded and you can relax wonderfully. Swim to the next sandbank, walk along the beach to the harbor on the Bodden or watch the waves splashing against the numerous groynes!

10. Prerow on Fischland-Darss-Zingst

Who does not know the popular Baltic Sea resort of Prerow, which is also located on the 45 km long Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. The glittering sea, the lush green dunes and the powder-sugar-white sandy beach create a real South Seas feeling here.

There is also something for everyone here: nudist sections, natural beaches, camping, water sports, beach parties and much more… No wonder this beach made it into our top 10 most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea! It is even considered one of the most beautiful in the world!
