Miletus Theater in Didim

Milet Theater, one of the Hellenic Roman period buildings; It is an important work that we recommend you to see during your visit to Didim.

The ancient theater, which is 150 meters long, was built by the Roman Emperor Marcus Avrelius. While the front rows of the theater were reserved for the priests and state administrators of the period, it stands out as a place where public meetings were held.

While the seating capacity was 5,000 in the Hellenistic period, it was expanded to accommodate over 15 thousand people in the Roman period. The Romans, who did not ignore the importance of acoustics in theaters, also designed the Milet Theater to have an extraordinary acoustic.

After visiting the Miletus Theatre, you can reach the only port from the Miletus era from the back of the building.
