Nusa Lembongan Travel Guide / Tips, Beaches

Nusa Lembongan tips. Everything you need to know about this beautiful Bali insider tip / Nusa Lembongan Travel Guide / Tips, Beaches

Do you sometimes dream of beautiful beaches far away? Indonesia, or more precisely Bali, is at the top of many travellers’ bucket lists. No matter whether you fancy a beach vacation, honeymoon or a backpacking trip. If you can’t decide whether you want a luxury or a budget holiday, I recommend the magical island of Nusa Lembongan. Are you curious? Then be sure to check out my Nusa Lembongan tips.

Arrival to Nusa Lembongan

The best way to get to Bali is by plane. In the meantime there are always cheap flight deals to Bali. You can find cheap flights here in my flight search. You can only get to the beautiful island of Nusa Lembongan from Sanur by boat. You have the choice between a slow wooden boat and a speedboat ride.

One of my Nusa Lembongan tips for getting there is to take the slightly more expensive speedboat. With this you only need half an hour, with the slower boat you need 1.5 hours and these are often very crowded. On site I recommend you to explore the island on foot or with a scooter.

Activities on Nusa Lembongan

Once on the island, it is of course tempting to go straight to one of the beautiful beaches. But the island has other beautiful things that you should see. In the southwest of the island you will find the Devil’s Tear Bay. Here the sea water hits the rugged cliffs with full force. This creates huge fountains and it looks like it’s always raining here.

My tip for you is not to stop at the first spot where everyone is standing, but to walk a few meters further. There you have the seawater rain shower for you alone and it is even more intense! A tour through the mangrove forest is also highly recommended, either by kayak or on a stand-up paddle board.

The beautiful island is without a doubt a real paradise for water sports enthusiasts! Whether you want to swim or snorkel at one of the beautiful beaches or maybe even scuba dive, Nusa Lembongan is just perfect. For example, you have the opportunity to swim with big manta rays, great right?

Of course, the best snorkeling spots should not be missing from my list of Nusa Lembongan tips: Manta Point, Crystal Bay, Gamat Bay, Nano Nano or The Wall. Decide for yourself whether you want to go on a guided snorkeling excursion or just rent a snorkel and hop into the water on your own.

You should also not miss the beautiful little neighboring island of Nusa Ceningan. Both islands are connected by a conspicuous yellow bridge, which is so narrow that it cannot be crossed by car. The small island has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere that just makes you happy. You should definitely drive or walk to the view point (the roads are really bad here too).

The best beaches in Nusa Lembongan

Bali and in particular Nusa Lembongan undoubtedly has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world! Since it is difficult to decide, a list of the most beautiful beaches should not be missing in my Nusa Lembongan tips.

Mushroom Bay / Nusa Lembongan Travel Guide

The beautiful Mushroom Bay beach has what is arguably the softest sand on the island and the water is almost unreal turquoise. There is adequate swimming, a few bars on the shore, but no protection from the sun. So make sure you bring sunscreen!

Secret Mushroom Beach / Nusa Lembongan Tips

At Secret Mushroom Beach you have almost complete peace of mind. This magical beach is not so easy to find. You actually have to look for Tamarind Beach, but then turn left just before the water. You drive a few minutes further and then you have to go down a very steep path through the forest. It sounds a bit tedious, but it’s definitely worth it! It’s best to ask a local to take you there.

Jungut Batu Beach / Nusa Lembongan

Jungut Batu Beach is the largest beach on the island, it is also the busiest beach. Many boats dock here and there are numerous snorkeling tours. Jungut Batu Beach is not the best beach for swimming due to the abundance of coral near the shore, but it is undoubtedly a great place to relax and sunbathe!

Mangrove Beach

Similar to Secret Mushroom Beach, Mangrove Beach is a bit off the beaten track. The best way to get here is on foot or by bike. The beach is beautiful with trees growing out of the sand. You also have a spectacular view of Mount Agung on Bali’s mainland. There are some restaurants right on the water where you can have a good time!

Dream beach / Nusa Lembongan Travel Tips

The name says it all! The Dream Beach is quite small, but the water and the fine sand are simply indescribably beautiful. Even if the turquoise water is tempting, you have to be careful with the currents here! There is only one restaurant on Dream Beach, but this one has the perfect view! By the way, if you don’t feel like going to the beach anymore, you can walk straight to Devil’s Tear from here! A beautiful walk along the cliffs that is really worth it!

Culinary delights

Of course, the physical well-being must not be neglected on the beautiful island of Nusa Lembongan. On the island you will of course find many Balinese specialties such as Nasi Goreng, Bami Goreng or Gado-Gado. The latter is gado-gado, a delicious salad made from vegetables, sprouts, tofu, fried soybeans and peanut sauce. As you may have noticed, it’s easy to find something delicious to eat here for vegans and vegetarians too! But if you are more in the mood for European food, you will quickly find what you are looking for on Nusa Lembongan. Pizza, pasta and even German home cooking are available on the island for little money.

Well, did you feel like going to the small dream island? Then let’s go to Bali!
